A former fashion designer and boutique owner, Margie Sone began her career as a jewelry artisan more than twenty years ago in Miami, Florida. She studied via numerous workshops the skills of beading, wire wrapping, straw casting, and torching. Her favorite workshop course destination is the William Holland Lapidary School in the mountains of North Carolina.
As her passion evolved, she discovered Larimar. A dreamy, Caribbean semi-precious stone possessing the coolness that makes it an attraction in any season. Margie’s talents takes the Larimar to new heights when she fashions it into shimmering silver earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets.
The sea-green to dark-blue ever-changing hues of Larimar belie its source: an inactive volcano in the southwest mountains of her native Dominican Republic.
Margie continues her love of the arts as a painter. Originally studying at prestigious fine art schools in the Dominican Republic, she continued her studies upon her move to Florida at the University of Miami, South Beach Art School, and the Bass Museum of Art.
Most recently, she has taken numerous workshops in Tuscany, Provence, Amalfi Coast, Sicily, and Cinque Terra.
Margie has won numerous awards for her jewelry and 2D fine art creations from the Landings Art Association and other prominent jewelry shows.
She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Landings Art Association and is represented by Signature Gallery in City Market and the Downstairs Gallery, both in Savannah, GA.
