Leslie Fitzgerald

Leslie took her first oil painting class when she was 15 and went on to receive a BA in art. Upon graduating, she set aside her art, moved to NYC and embarked on an exciting 30-year career in book publishing. It opened up other avenues of creation working directly with authors, editors, book designers, photographers, artists and printers in editorial and marketing positions turning ideas into successful books but she never gave up her love of painting. A move to Savannah in 2000 was transformational and she has now lived and painted there for 20 years.

Inspired by the natural beauty of the Lowcountry, she is best known for her landscapes of the Intracoastal Waterway, marshes and lagoons but is also charmed by Savannah and enjoys painting cityscapes and historic sites. She paints in oil and is most interested in capturing the textures, mood, color and light that give life to the subject. The creative process of painting itself gives her great pleasure. Winston S. Churchill said it well, "Happy are the painters, for they shall not be lonely. Light and color, peace and hope, will keep them company to the end, or almost to the end, of the day."

She is a member of the Landings Art Association. Her work can also be seen at the Sound View Member's Gallery at the Plantation Club and the Merrill Lynch Atrium Gallery, both on Skidaway Island, and also on her website, (and
